AUSTRALIAN RECEIPTS
For the nine mouths ended 31sfc March Australian Customs revenue was more than £12,f100,000 below the total for the corresponding period of last year, anrh nearly £8,000,000 leas than the estimated receipts. The estimated Customs revenue for the nine months ended 31st March was £29,775,000. The actual revenue was £22,063,47u, or £12,312,902 less than in the nine months ended 31st March, 1930 — £34,376,377—and £7,711,525 less than the estimate. The returns reflect restricted imports! and high exchange. Increased postal charges also. account for decreased revenue from that source. For the nine months just ended, the postal revenue was £9,557,205. This was £267,966 less' than that for the corresponding nine months of last yciir —£10,----125.174—and less by £1,432,314 than the estimate—£ll,2B9,s22. Queensland was the only State in which postal revenue increased. The postal revenue for List month—£l.ll7,s79—was less by £4707 than that for March, 1030—£1,142,376.
