SYDNEY CUP TO THE DIMMER

Holiday attractions yesterday included race meetings in different parts of the Dominion. The meeting nearest at hand for Wellington racegoers was at Tauherenikau, and farther afield there was racing af Auckland, Feilding, Waipukurau, Canterbury, and Rivcrton, with one or two smaller meetings elsewhere. The Australian Jockey Clnb's second day's events were also decided yesterday, and ihe Sydney Cup was won easily by The Dimmer. The weather in the main was fine and the racing generally was keen. ■ The Great Easter Handicap at Christcliurch was won by Ghaimeuse, with Great Star and Mount Boa in the minor places, and Golden Wings had a comfortable victory in the Champagne Stakes, Cricket Bat being second. My Own won the Autumn Handicap at Auckland after a stirring contest, Bright Glow and Lady Pam being second and third respectively. Karapoti had no difficulty in winning the Great Northern St. Leger Stakes, and Star Comet won the Autumn Steeplechase. . . After a keen finish with Stanchion-, White 1. -_; won the Lastcr Handicap at Tauherenikau, and Tenterden scored in the main ..print. Paitonu won the Easter Handicap at Feilding from Calamine; Queen's Choice won the Waipukurau Cup; and Town Major won the Easter Handicap at Riverton. The principal event, at the Hawera Trots was won by Great Parrish.
