BRITISH RUGBY TOUR

QUESTION ABOUT RECEIPTS

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, Ist April. The Canterbury Rugby Union has sought a reason why tho Wellington Union has received a percentage of the | receipts of the British team's tour greater | than that given to the other unions, and a reply to the question was received from the New Zealand Union at a meeting of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Union last night. The Hew Zealand Uniou stated that the percentage granted to the Wellington Union for the New Zealand matches played at Athletic Park was one of the terms of the loan granted to the union to assist! it to erect the grandstand. Before those terms were incorporated in the agreement: the suggestion was submitted to delegates j of the New Zealand Union, who expressed their approval of the idea, it being recog- j nised by. those with whom the matter was discussed that it was essential that tho Wellington Union be assisted to erect an up-to-date , grandstand at Athletic Park, us that would be of immense value to the New Zealand Union when foreign matches were being played there. As the Canterbury Union had forwarded remits for the annual meeting delegates would be given an opportunity of discusing them under the heading of general business, as they could scarcely be made subject of notices of motion. ■ In regard to this letter, the chairman, Mr. A. E. M'Phail, moved that the union point out that it was still of opinion that remits should bo considered as notices of motion. This was carried.
