FAIR AND MILD

PLEASANT WEATHER

A moderate anti-cyclone is covering the ''northern part of tho New Zealand area, while a series of slight depressions extends over the Tasman Sea to and beyond southern New Zealand. This has caused a pressure distribution of the westerly typo. Pressure has fallen considerably since yesterday over the eastern part of Australia. Light to modorate winds' from some westerly quarter have prevailed and the weather as a whole has been fair and pleasing with mild temperatures. A few isolated showers, however, have occurred in western and extreme southern districts. After some early morning showers, Auckland had a fine day yesterday. In Wellington a light northerly prevailed and conditions were fine and pleasant. Both Dunedin and Christchurch had a fin© day, too, with a north-easterly breeze. Freshening westerly winds are likely to veer to the north before long. In eastern and northern districts mainly fair weathor should still prevail, but in western districts cloud will increase. Showers are probable on the West Coast of the South Island. Temperatures will be milil.
