SHOOTS ANOTHER MAN
ACTION AGAINST STATE SUCCEEDS
PARIS, 25th January,
The Conseil d'Etat, a body dealing with administrative litigation, has given a verdict against the State in connection with a crime committed in 1923. A man named Jerome was then allowed to leave a lunatic asylum on condition that he kept away from his former home, but he quickly returned and shot and killed another man.
The Court found that the State had been guilty of negligcence, and ordered it to pay the victim's widow an annual pension,of 3000 francs, also' to pay the daughter 25,000 francs.
