FAVOURITES ARE UTTERLY ROUTED
TOTAUSATOR FIGURES SHOW IMPROVEMENT
Two main features of the concluding day of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Trenthani oh Saturday'were the utter rout of the favourites and the further success of the three-year-olds. No. first dividend was under £5, and the average first price was £10 17s. Actual favourites returned the second dividend on three occasions, two of the times being in the first two races, who fields were small; Three-year-olds won four of the seven races in which they were ablq to compete, those to succeed being Minerval, Arikira, Autopay, and Royal Routine. ■ Through the meeting three-year-olds were successful in ten out of the 21 races open to them.
In spite of showery weather, there was a fair attendance, and the totalisator turnover of £47,080 represented a decline of only £1913 10s on the figures for. the off (second) day last year, or of £11,421 10s if compared -with' the Saturday (Cup Day) last year. For the meeting, however, the total investments of £129,194 are in marked contrast to the £193,222 10s put through last year, the decrease being: £64,028 lGs^or almost exactly 33 1-3 per cent.
