CLOSING THE YEAR'S WORK
.Members of the. Lower Hutt Borough Council, the office staff, and the Press were entertained at supper by the Mayor of Lower liutt, Sir A. I<\ Itoberts, hist evening. Sir Alexander was asked liy members of the council to offer himself for the .Mayoralty'at the next election, lie promised to give an answer early in the Jiew Year. At last night's meeting, of tho J'cloiiu Borough Council, the last of the year, the Mayor (Mr. D. M'Kcuzic) wished the councillors the season's greetings. He complimented the staff on the gotxl work it had done during the year, and expressed appreciation of the fair reports given by the Press. Suitable replies were made, with special reference to the excellent work done by tho Mayor to relievo tbe unemployment situation.
