BIG BRITISH WHALING CATCH.
Wireless reports received in London {torn the Antarctic late in October announced that a catch of whales producing 11,000 barrels of oil, valued at over \SiB,SOO, had been made by the AngloNorwegian Holdings fleet, the largest Jsritifife Empire unit in the whaling industry 3 for the lirst week of the 1930-31 season, ended 19th October. The fleet commenced fishing one week earlier than last season, and has now in operation three floating factory ships, a land station, and a large number of catching vessels. Successful experiments are being made for the first time with an electrical harpoon, which electrocutes the whale on contact.
