ON TRENTHAM TRACK

TWO-YEAR-OLDS CO WELL

ADDITIONAL HOLIDAY PLANS

The weather was showery at Trentliam this morning, but the going was better than it has been for some days, j The inside of the trial grass, which has j not been open for several weeks, was j available for fast work, and the sand for pace work. J Hunting Call and Mythology went j six furlongs together, but were not tinicd. Taura Lad did a similar task. The Sun, who lias joined C. Pritehard's team, was exercised. Tea Queen was going bettor than Open Cheque at the end of six furlongs in Imiu 23see, the last half-mile taking 55soc. ■ I Invite - finished several lengths in front of Bed Sun at the close of a fivefurlong sprint, the last four oil which took 57 4-ssoc. Invite could have done better. . ■ ' ■ Eamcses, with a light-weight up, boat Marjoram by a; length over, six furlongs in lmin 21 3-ssee, the last half-mile taking 54sec. Barneses appreciated the softer going, and' the gallop was his best for some time. He is to race at Waipukurau and Tauherenikau, being engaged in the Amalgamation Handicap and Braoburn Handicap (gentlemen riders) at the'former meeting, and probably contesting the Braeburn, in which case Mr. L. H. J. M' Pherson will ride him. Bothen, Barneses 'a stableinate, did half a mile comfortably, in 56 2-ssee. C. France will ride him at Waipukurau. Malayan moved nicely over six furlongs alone in lmin 23 4-ssee, coming home the last half-mile in 54sec. Lady Pam was a length too good for Miss Bansom over six furlongs in lmin 22 4-ssee, the last half-mile taking 53 4-ssec. Lady Pam appears to be well treated in the Christmas Handicap at Auckland with 7.13. CONCENTRATE'S GAIiIiOP. | Concentrate finished ahead of Duellona, with Staghunt.er about three lengths back, at the end of a mile in lmin 48see. The final. seven furlongs : took lmin 34 1-osec, and the final halfmile 54 2-ssec.. Staghunter is definite-1 ly to race at Awapuni, where he is engaged on the second and third days. Duellona will contest the Manawatu Cup, in which she will be ridden by \V. Broughtbn. Concentrate may not leave for Ellerslie till Saturday.' Saltpot strode alone over half-a---mile, but was not after time. Habit was just in front of Basouli at the end of six furlongs in lmin 23 l-ssec, the last half-mile taking 55 4-ssec. On the two-year-old track, Cape Gold and Maritime sprinted half a milo in 52 2-ssec. On the trial grass, Acorn registered the best figures of the morning for half a mile, beating Salt Spray by a good length in 50 4-ssec. Acorn, who is a full-sister to Don. Quixote, will probably have her first race in the Nursery Handicap at Awapuni. St. Boger was just in front of Oratorian at the end of half a milo in 51sec, the pair having started off more slowly than Acorn and Salt Spray. St. Bogcr is not going to Ellerslie, but will race at Awapuni, where B. H. Morris will ride him at 10 or 111b overweight. Waratah, alone, sprinted over throe J furlongs, but was not timed. Gesture, looking1 very fit, joelcd off a smart half-mile in 51sec, and pro-! bably could have improved the figures. national 11. and Arikinui went six furlongs at a good ■.three-quarter pace. Dainty Ways and Wee Night, separately, did a couple of rounds o£ strong pace work on the sand. Half Acre surprised by finishing a length better than Lady Bene at the end of five furlongs in lmin 7 4-ssec, the last half-mile taking 53 3-ssec. GOOD SEVEN FURLONGS. Historic, picked up by Caught at the three furlongs, did seven furlongs in lmin 33 4-ssec, coming home the final half-milo in 52 4-ssec. . . Type sprinted half a mile on the two-year-old track in 53 2-ssee, but was easing up at the finish. Gold Sand did a round of pace work on the sand. Sir Limond, pickod up at the halfmile by Pat's Boy, went six furlongs in Imiu 23 3-ssce, the pair doing the final half-mile in 54sec, Ephialtes finished several lengths clear of Black Mint at the-end of a mile in lmin 50sec. The first half was reeled off in 53 4-ssee, but the pace slowed down over the concluding, stages. Black Mint did not seem able to handle the going at all, but Ephialtes showed himself as much at home on it as if it were firm. Courtliko rau away from Koyal Game and Tourist in a seven-furlong spin, the time for the full journe}' being lmin 35sec, and for the last halfmile 55 2-ssec. Courtliko is a notoriously good track horse, but does not always reproduce her best oa race day. Oral and Dolomite set out to do five furlongs together, but Oral bolted at the six furlongs. She went the first two furlongs very fast, but was unable to see out the pace and her full time was lmin 27 2-ssec, the last half-mile taking 60sec. Dolomito followed her, but was not hurried in pursuit. Acis did five furlongs alone on the two-year-old track at a steady threequarter pace. Valquette shot off ahead of Flower from the half-mile, but lost ground in balking at a pool at the top of the straight and her. companion beat her home by nearly a length. It was a good gallop, nevertheless, for the time was 52see. After breakfast, following further showers, Tobaccoland and Money Mint went six furlongs together in lmin 23 3-ssec, taking 57sec for the last halfmile. Tobaecoland looks very well. He will do his holiday racing at Ellerslie, and will be ridden in the Bobinson Handicap by B. Beed. . ; Burnt Note obtained a break on Arrowzone at the seven furlongs, but the chestnut had his measure before the journey was completed, the ' time being lmin 37sec. Valrewa did half a milo easily, in 52 sec. She has plenty of speed over this distance, but an,extra furlong has so far found her wanting. The last pair to work wore Trader Horn, and Fail-wind, two of G. .Tones's two-year-olds, who sprinted three furlongs in 40sec.
