(By Telefiraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, 2nd December. An opinion that trie Mount Albert Borough Council should take no action in connection With the official opening p£ the new Post Office was expressed at _' a | meeting of the council, but after a discussion it waff decided to ask_tbe Government 'to arrange the function. A letter was forwarded by Mr. G. C. Munns, M.P. for Roskill, from the Post-master-General, who stated that the building would be ready ■ for occupancy in a few days' time, but that no request had been received for the building to be officially opened for business. ': "If this function is going to mean any expenditure we should cut it out," said Mr: Parr. "The Post Office is not worthy of the district. We have been put on • a level with a village called New Lynn. It is a disgrace-to the Government." Mr. Buckley expressed the opinion that the council '"should be represented if there was an opening function, and its representatives should, explain that the council was amazed that the Post Office ■was not twice the size. He considered that at the same time some commemora--tive function'should be held. •'I think that the absurdity of the biggest borough in New Zealand getting a miserable dog-lieririel 'like that should be commented oh," said Mr., Langley. ._ j "In any case, we could do better with' our money than spend it on opening post offices," said Mr. Kayes. . . ;'- It was decided that the Government] should be asked to arrange an official opening of the buijding, at which the council would be represented. ■ ; -
