'flic 52nd anniversary of the Sumla\ School was celebrated last week. The sit vices on Sunday were conducted by tin Rev. J. Hiibbiird, M.A., B.D. (morninj?) Rev. Harry Johnson (afternoon), am Rev. W. S. Rollings (evening), whose ad dresses were much enjoyed by good con gregations. Special singing by the chil dren, under the baton of Mr. J. R Barker, with Miss F. Harry at tin organ, was a feature of the services. Tin scholars' tea and entertainment was heli on the following Wednesday, when a de lightful programme of musical and elocn tionary items was rendered by the children. The prizes were presented by the secretary of the school, Mr. J. R. Barker, who was making liis final appearance prior "to his trausfer to luvcrcaigill. The opportunity was.taken by the superintendent, Mr. J. Pirie, to present Mr. Barker' with a fountain pen in recognition of liis work during the past five years. On behalf of the church, Mr. W. G. Shearer, senior deacon, -expressed warm appreciation of the excellent services of the super- j intendent and teachers. '
