ASSOCIATION KE-FOKMED

The Seatoun and Bays' Progressive Association, acquired a new lease of ]ife last night when it was unanimously decided ata meeting of ratepayers to re-form the association, which had practically lapsed during the pasjt year for want of j support. Mr. W. 0. Palmer, the convener | of the meeting, occupied the chair. The following members of the Civic League were present:—Messus. J. H. Whittaker (deputy chairman), P. Myers, F. Moore, A. C. Blake, and H. R. Searle. After welcoming the members of the league, Mr. Palmer said he had been asked by other associations to see if the Seatoun Association could not fall into line with the rest of them and re-form a district association: It had been noticed by other associations that the Seatoun one had been very inactive of late. In the past the association had been most energetic, and had done a great deal tor the suburb and the surrounding districts. Mr. Palmer said that the Civic League was the centre ,body for practically all suburban associations. The league had wanted to know why the Seatoun Association had been inactive during the past year. Through all the associations amalgamating, through the league, more was done by the City Council than if each association approached it individually. Mr. Palmer said he was very keen to sec the association re-formed, Vis lie knew it would benefit the district in more ways than one. The association depended largely on the support of the people themselves. M*\ Whittakei:, briefly outlined the objects and ideals .of the Civic League, explaining that its-council was. composed of delegates from-the various associations. .Mr. Searle said that in the past the association which^worried the City Counoil had derived the most benefit for its locality. There had not been a great amount of work done in Seatoun recently," and in the interests of all it would bo wise to re-form the association. Several other speakers urged the revival of the association. At the close of the meeting it was decided that the standing committee, with Mr, Palmer as chairman, should carry on the work of the association until the New Year,, when another meeting would be called ■to elect officers.
