PARIS, Ist December. Mademoiselle- Mery, the 21-year-old daughter of wealthy parents, made.no secret of her motive for killing M. Heurteur, musical director of the Grand Cinema, in a motor-car in the Avenue de 1 'Opera. She.said she had met Heurteur at a cinema where she was tho conductor of the orchestra. A liaison sprang tip between them, but as Hcurtcur never allowed her into his flat she became convinced there was another woman. On Saturday in company with a friend she called at his flat. Heurteur met her at the door, but did not allow her to enter. He offered to drive her I friend back to the suburbs. When they were- returning to Paris tho girl accused the man oil duplicity.. Ho replied that her constant suspicions were intolerable. Mdllc. Mery said she had a revolver in her handbag, whereupon Hcurtcur 'said, "Kill me if you like or commit suicide. It is all the same to me." Exasperated at his indifference, the girl said she slowly slid her hand behind his head and shot him in the back of the neck. A, policeman on point duty in the Avemue de I'Opera, seeing a motor-car out of control collide with and knock down a lamp post, found that the driver, M. Heurteur, musical director of the Grand Cinema, had been shot and was dying. A girl, Rachel Hcry, 21-year-old daughter of wealthy parents, who was sitting alongside him. said that she killed him because she lovetl him. Otherwise he would have killed her. Heurteur died on tho way to hospital.
