PETONE AND OLD BOYS.

Old Boys, by scoring 189 runs in their fiist innings, made only a moderate start iii their match against Petqne at the Petone, Recreation Ground on Saturday. Browne and Bull were the only Old Boys batsmen to take toll of the bowling, and but for; their partnership Old Boys would have . made a most indifferent showing. Senior was the outstanding bowler for Petone. He bowled well back from the t-rease and keeping a medium pace, his deliveries -whipped tip smartly on the wicJcet. Botherham also bowled"well. Five of the first batsmen for Old Boya did all that was required o£ them. Parsloe fell Ibw to Hope for 6, and was followed by James, .who made 11. Bonaldson and Lamason were given out for 19 and 17 respectively beiore Browne and Bull became associated. They put up a sturdy stand, batting resolutely. The remaining wickets fell quickly, Bird, the last man in, being the only one to reach double figures. Petone started well. Hamilton and Roberts batted attractively until Hamilton, at 18, was caught by Eonaldson off Duncan. Eitchie, who. followed, went out lbw to Duncan. Smallwood and Boberts were still together when stumps were drawn. Roberts had made .an excellent display for his 47. Duncan was the best bowler for Old Boys. Others tried were Lamason, Bird, Mitchell; and Parsloe. The. folio wing are details:— OLD BOYS; ■'' ■ ■■ ' I'irst Innings, -Parsloe, Ibw, b Hope '.......
