UNIDENTIFIED MAN DROWNED

ANOTHER BODY RECOVERED

As a result of falling from the gangway leading from the Pipitea Wharf to the steamer Westmoreland shortly before 9 o'clock on Saturday night, an unidentified man, aged about 35, was drowned. At about 8145 p.m., John Reeve, fourth officer on the vessel, and Kenneth Arnold Basey, an apprentice, were standing on the deck of the ship ivhen a man came along the wharf from the direction of the Thorndon breastwork. When he reached the vessel he attempted to walk up tho gangway, but as he was not a member of tho crew ho was assisted back to the wharf again. When Reeve and Basey went the man tried to climb the gangway again, but slipped and fell between tho ship and the wharf. Ho was seen to fall into the water, but disappeared immediately, and itothing more was seen of him except his hat, which was floating on the water. , The missing man was about 35 years of age, thick set, clean shaven, and of dark complexion. He ■ was wearing a dark red overcoat, a dar.k brown suit, and a dark brown hat, with a black band. His hat, which has been recovered, bore tho inscription "P.C.N." inside, and was stamped "City Hatters, Ltd., Pitt and George streets, Sydney." v Dragging was undertaken yesterday, but so far the body has not been recovered. ANOTHER BODY FOUND. ' While fishing off the Thorndon breastwork at. 11 o'clock yesterday morning, John Eose found the body of a man in the water. The body, which has not boon identified, had been in the water for a considerable time and was in an advanced state of decomposition. The man was abejut sft 6in in height, had red hair, and was wearing a navy blue double-breasted suit, blue repp overcoat, blue ahirt, and a bow tie: There was nothing in the pockets by which to identify tho body.
