ART SHIELD COMPETITIONS
The Wellington Technical College's a«« nual inter-house competitions in music and elocution were held in the Concert Chamber yesterday. Representatives ' from the four houses (Bowen, Seddoii, Wakefield, and Wildiug) competed in ch'oral-aud instrumental music, vocal solos, Tecitations, and reading. Mr. 12. Jenner, A.R.A.M., of the Teachers' Training College, acted as judge of the musical- sections,.and MrByron' Brown adjudicated..in, tlie'eloeutionary sections. Bowen-'House proyed'to ba the outstanding house in this year's festival, E. Brown winning the boys' solo, Beatrice Thwaites the girls' solo,. Mena Ruddell the senior girls' recitation, while the Bowen choir and q.uartet were the winners of their respective sections'; • 'The standard of the work presented was very high, and -the- various competitors wcra heartily congratulated by the judges.
