The Acting-Prime Minister (the Hon. E. A. Ransom) left this morning to spend the week-end at his home in Dannovirke. He is expected to return on Monday evening. The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. A. J. Murdoch) will return to-morrow morning from Christchurch. Sir Truby King entered a private hospital yesterday for a period of rest treatment. Messrs. L. Stephenson and D. B. Hinclcnacb, who was for some years chief engineer of the "Sun" Newspaper Company, with service ■in Christchurch and Auckland, is joining the staff of the Christchurch Press Co., Ltd., and will have charge of the rotary presses of the company. His Lordship Bishop Byrne, of Toowoomba, Queensland/who -has been visiting New Zealand to raise to the priesthood his nephew, Father Edward Joyce, of North Canterbury, leaves Auckland by the Ulimaroa for Sydney to-day. M'Callum, M.L^C, completed 31 years of continuous servica as a member, of the Board of Governors of Marlborough College when the board met on Monday on the anniversary' of the first meeting held in 1899. As a mark of appreciation of. Mr, M'Callum's long service, the principal (Mr. J. Stewart, M.A.) asked him to accept a small gift from the school. The presentation took the form of'a■'speciallybound copy of Carlyle's "Heroes and Hero Worship," bearing the college) crest.
