MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Cases in the Magistrate's Court were dealt with this Morning by Mr. E. Page, S.M. * ■ Harold William Lee, a labourer, aged 38, charged with stealing a bicycle valued at £3. was remanded. A remand was granted in the ea6e of Clement Robert Lawson, a salesman, aged 20, and Ronald Alfred E. Haylock, a grocer's assistant, aged 17, who were charged with stealing a motor-cycle valued at. £80. Haylock was granted bail in his own bond of £50. In Lawson's case bail was fixed at £50, with a'surety of £50. For being found on licensed premises after hours. Cecil Drinkwater was fined £2. William Kew was fined £2 for a similar offence. Two first offenders for drunkenness were fined 10s. , • ■ On a charge of casting offensive matter in a public place, John Patrick Wickstone was fined 10s. For failing to keep a wages book, Nikitas Cannis was lined £1. Sang Lee, fruiterer, was • fined £2 for failing to close his shop at 7 p.m. For bringing milk into the city when not the holder of a City Council licence, Maude Mary Hosking was fined £2.
At the Mount Cook Police Court this morning, before Mr. G. W. Keys, J.P., one first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged.
