SEAMEN'S UNION
TROUBLE IN AUSTRALIA
STEAMERS AFFECTED
(Eeceivod 11th November, 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Seamen's Union, having refused to supply a crew unless the owners reinstated a dismissed fireman and trimmer, the steamer Mackarra, which was ready to sail for Queensland ports, will probably be laid up. Another dispute on the Union Company's steamer Koranui, trading with' Tasmania, arose from a boatswain missing the ship at Sydney. When he presented himself for' duty at Newcastle the next day, he was not accepted. Tha union thereupon ordered eight deck, hands to leave the ship when it returned to Sydney. ■, They did so yesterday, and the call to fill the vacancies was answered, by five hundred seamen.
