OBITUARY
GENERAL TASKER H. BLISS
WASHINGTON, Bth November. General Tasker H. Bliss, who was Chief of Staff of the American Army in the Great War, died to-day. He was 76 years of age. General Tasker Howard Bliss was an American soldier born at Lewisburg on 31st December, 1853. He graduated at West Point Military Academy in 1875, and from 1885 to 1888 was professor of military science at the Naval War College. Ho ; served through the Porto Eican campaign during the SpanishAmerican War. In 1903 he was made commandant of the Army War College, and from that year until 1905 he was a member of the Joint Army and Navy Board, and also of tho General Staff. In 1917 he was appointed chief of staff of the Army War College, and promoted, to the rank of general. He was a member of the Allied Conference (1917), of the Supremo War Council (1918), and of the International Peace Conference (1918-19).
