MAGISTRATE'S COURT
. Polite cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with, by Mr. T. B. M'Neil, S.M. ' Seen :by Constable J.. C. Edwards in Tory" street together, Thomas Bidout, aged 'IS, and Thomas Atkinson, aged 55, were later questioned about a bundle of towels valued at os, the property of some person or persons unknown. Rklout said ho was never ill Tory street .that night, and Atkinson said he had been given the towels to look after by a man who had gone into a fish and chip shop. The Magistrate convicted each of the accused of theft and sentenced them to fourteen days' imprisonment. Ridout had a long list of previous convictions, and Atkinson had been three times convicted i'or sly grog selling. . One first-offending inebriate was fined üb.
