FERGUSSON—DUGDALE

Tho marriage took place at St. Columba's, Pont street, on 17th July, of Mr. James Fergusson, eldest son of General Sir Charles iFergusson, of Kilkerran, Maybole, Ayrshire, and Lady Alice Forgusson, and Miss Louise Frances Balfour Stratford Dugdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dugdale, of 1, Eoland Gardens, S.W. O?he Eev. Archibald Fleming, D.D.^ officiated, assisted by the Eev. G. W. Walker (minister of St. Machar's, Dailly, Ayr-shii-e). ' .

The bride wore -an oyster-coloured satin gown trimmed with old lace (lent by the Balfour family). Her veil of old Brussels lace (lent by Lady Alice Fergusson) was held in place by a wreath of real orange blossoms, and she carried a sheaf of regalia lilies. Her ornaments were-a string of pearls (the gift of her'uncle).---'and'a pearl and diamond pendant (given, by Sir Charles and Lady Alice Pergusson).

Two small boys, John Diigdale (son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dugdale) and Peter Boyle (son of .Air-Commodore tho Hon. J. Boyle and Mrs. Boyle), wearing pink corded silk shorts and shirts to match,; carriod .the train.. They wer^e followed by three, chili} bridesmaids, Miss Dorothea Haviland (daughter of Major and Mrs. Hayiland), Miss Susan and Miss M. Dugdale. The grown-up bridesmaids were Lady Anne Gathorne Har.dy (daughter of Dorothy Countess of Cranbrook, cousin of the bridegroom), the Hon. Daphne Strutt (daughter of Lord and Lady Bayleigh), Miss Alice Walter, Miss Mary Loder (daughter of Mr. G. W. E. and Lady Louise Loder), Miss Elizabeth Milne (daughter of Colonel and Mrs. Milne), Lady Kathleen Balfour : (daughter of Earl and Countess of Balfour). They were dressed in very pale pink georgette, with flower wreaths. The children were in long frocks of the same fabric and tone. Each carried a spray of blue delphininms and wore a necklace of coloured beads (from the bridegroom). Lieut. S: C. D. Forgusson, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, attended his brother as best man. The ushers were the Hon. John Strutt, the Hon. Charles Strutt, the Hon. A. Gathorne Hardy, My. John Boyle, Mr. Edward Boyle, Mr. Bernard Fergusson (brother), Mr. Michael Dugdale. The church was beautifully decorated with hydrangeas in a variety of shades and tall palms. The choral service, Scottish form, included Psalms cxxi and ciii (both versical settings, the one by French, the. other by Coleshill), and a hymn. ■•■■•■.■:•• The reception was" held by Mrs. Dugdale at 2, Bryanston ! Square, lent by Lady George Campbell (great-aunt of the bride). Lady Alieo Fergusson was in light blue georgette with hat of darker shade; Mrs. Dugdale wore pale biscuit-tinted lace, with, brown lac© hat. The bride and bridegroom left later for Terling Place, lent by Lord and Lady Bayleigh. They -will make a_ tour in Iceland. Their future, home will be in Edinburgh.. Mrs. Fergnsson wore a dress of wine-red silk, with white spots, coatee, and hat to match. H.E.H. Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, sent the bride, who is her goddaughter, an amethyßt and diamond pendant and brooch and a diamond and ruby necklace. She also received an emerald and diamond necklace and pendant from the Dowager. Lady Eayleigh; a silver Ship centrepiece from the employees and friends on Eilkerran estate; and from, the tenantry on Kilkorran estate a cheque to bo spent on a portrait of the bridegroom. Many Now Zealanders were present at tho wedding, including Mrs. Vernon Eeed, Mrs. Lan Duncan, Miss Skerrett, Mrs. C. Kebbell, Dr. and Mrs. Hardwick Smith, Mrs. Noel Biakiston, and others. DOWLING—HARROP. A wedding solemnised at the Wosleyaii Church, Bognor Eegis, was that of Miss Kathleen Edith Harrop, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Harrop, of Lower Eiccartou, Christeliureh, to Mr. Henry Dowliug, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Dowling, of Eiccarton. The Eov. G. T. Bollhouse officiated, assisted by the Eev. M. Herbert Lee, of Bognor Eegis. The church was tastefully decorated with pink rambler roses, whito carnations, and foliage. Mr. Thornton Ballantyno escorted the brido, who woro a medieval gown of ivory laco, with a flared skirt, tlie sheath bodico having a bolero effect. The voil of ivory net was edged with lace, and worn with clusters of orange blossom. A pearl necklace was worn, and a sheaf of Madonna lilies carried. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Marion Tuek-Pook, was in green georgette and taffeta and a large beige crinoline hat, her bouquet being of pink and yellow carnations. She also wore a pearl necklace, the gift of tho bridegroom. Two children, Margaret Fleming . and Joan Shehan, also attended, and .wqre frocks of pale green frilled net over taffeta, with rosebud head-dresses; they carried Victorian posies. Each received a gold initial brooch from tho bridegroom. The page (John Thorno Fleming) was in full Highland costume. Mr. Edward Dowling (Christchurch) was best'man.- The wedding party was entertained after tho ceremony at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Tborne Ballantyne, and later the bride and bridegroom loft by car for a tour in tho Southern counties. Tho brido Iravelled in a figured silk gown of scarlet and navy, with a navy georgette coat, and Bangkok lace hat to tone. Her gift from tho bridegroom was a fur coat. In 1931 Mr. and Mrs. H. Dowling will, leave for Coristehurch, travelling by Oanadn and Australia,
