MAN ON REMAND
ASKS TO BE DEALT WITH

..The imusual action of a remanded man calling at the police station and asking that he be,. brought before the Court immediately was described when Herbert Albert Edward Scott, aged 32, a tablet porter, was charged with stealing a hand saw and obtaining sums totalling £3 by false pretences. .. V
Tho accused's counsel said that, against his advice, the accused ■ was pleading ■guilty to all charges. Saying ■that he had no hope and it was a case of his word against another's. He (counsel) thought the accused stole the saw, but that he was not guilty of the other charges. ■ A'detective said that Scott told the police that if. he were left on bail he woulcl go away in the Aorangi to America. . ■ . • . • ~ . . ■ .-,■■ *■■■■
