POSITION HOPEFUL
(Received Ist August, 1 p.m.) GIBRALTAR, 31st July. A further message from the Nerbudda states that her freeboard is under seven feet. The ingress of water into No. 3 hold is partly stopped, but water is slowly rising in No. 4. The position is hopeful if a salvage steamer arrives quickly. The Nerbudda was built in 1919 for the British-India Steam Navigation Company, and came to Australia in May under the- auspices of the Federal Steam Navigation Company. She loaded wool and general cargo at Melbourne, Port Pirie, and Fremantle, and sailed;from Fremantle on Ist July, under command of Captain J. Bleneowe.
