MR. THOMAS MADDEN
Tlie death occurred at ■Wellington today of Mr. Thomas Madden, managing director of New Zealand Breweries, after a lengthy illness. The late Mr. Madden was well known throughout the whole of New Zealand as far as the licensed trade was concerned, being regarded as one of, its leaders. He was chairman of the national executive of the Trade practically ever since the inception of its present organisation, a period of about twenty years. For many years, prior to the amalgamation of breweries, he was secretary and managing director to Staples and Co., Wellington. He leaves a widow and a family of four, two sons and two daughters. Messrs. Dave Madden, of Staples and Co., Wellington, and B. F. Madden, who^ is in the Police Commissioner's office, Wellington, are brothers.
