TALL SCORING.

:'Slant and spectacular football by both teams made the Hospital-Thistle match at Hospital most exciting. Hospital were at the top of their form and Thistle, though weak in defence owing mainly to the absence of Fletcher, the goalie, showed their usual brilliance in attack, and were very troublesome to the Hospital defenders. The game was not as one-sided as the: score of Hospital 7, Thistle 3 would indicate. The teams were:— Hospital.— Ell; Gibb, Thompson; Wood, Trewick, White; Miles, Marshall, Jeffery, Stanbridge, James. Thistle.—Bremner; Hopper, Montgomery; White, M'Lelland, Kirkwood; Taven■Uile, MThail, Wheelan, Cunningham, Juries. Hospital kicked off, Thistle secured, and Jones took the ball on the left. He centred hut the ball came back to him and he shot ni easy but well-deserved goal. Thistle 1, Hospital 0. From the kick-off Miles went up the right wing and swung the ball in to the goal, where Stanbridge secured and shot the equalising goal. Thistle 1, Hospital 1. Two goals in the 1 livst two minutes was good going, and :both teams, playing first-class , football, [settled down to fight for the lead. Hospital were having slightly the bettor of the game, and the next goal was theirs, Miles scoring with a ball that swerved straight in from corner kick. Hospital 2, Thistle 1. The Thistle defence did not 'seem very confident, and soon - Hospital Were through again. .Gibb shot g ieantx

from well pat, and the goalie was comjpletely beaten.. Hospital, 3, Thistle 1. The Thistle forwards were working hard and working well, but their efforts were blanketed by the solid defence, whereas the Hospital had-a-much-weaker opposition. Hospital's fourth goal came when Jetfery put a fast, riding shot just under the bar. Hospital 4, Thistle 1. A period of dull play ensued, and then, just betoie half-time, Thistle scored again. Prom a free kick against Hospital the ball came to Wheelan, who netted an unexepcted goal with Ell, caught unawares, making no attempt- to stop the ball. Hospital 4, Thistle -2." - ■ ■ ■ Thistle:-came within striking distance when, early in the second halt, Wheelan headed a,beauty into the net. Hospital 4 Thistle' 3. The goal acted as a spur to both teams, and play continued very fast. Hospital's ' superior defence and their weight began to count, and from this time Thistle, though fighting gamely, had very little chance. James scored the next goal with a splendid shot after an almost solo run. Hospital 5, Thistle 3. During a struggle in the Thistle goal mouth, the ball went in oft one of the Thistle backs. Hospital 6, Hustle 3. Hospital maintained the, pressure, and three minute later "hands" gave Hospital a penalty. Gibb made no mistake with the kick. Hospital 7, Thistle 3.
