Brilliant lacquered nails in every colour, including black, is the most startling fashion for women since shingled hair (says a writer in the London "Sunday Dispatch'o- The chief colours used for this new nail paint aro the smart shades of the season —Chinese red, royal blue, coral, violet, vivid green, tango, gold, marble, silver, and flame. Newer shades- are called "Cheric," "Ncgrcssc," and "English Beauty." -Tho paint gives the nails a rich, enamelled appearance -and docs not wear off for a week. West End hairdressers' shops arc full of women bringing in patterns of their newest dresses to choose a corresponding colour for their. ..nails. As. London was the first place where this new nail lacquer could be obtained, women aro coming over from Paris to obtain a smart manicure. The only other places to adopt this fashion so far are Sheffield and Irish Free State. There are many virtues to this new fashion. Dark green, yellow, or glowing scarlet paint makes the hands look smaller and longer, the nails, cau be made 'any shape desired, and the ' "moons" aro made to stand out more. Black nail varnish is .considered the 'newest thing of all. There is also a "remover" which takes the paint off at once, should a woman want to change her dress at the last moment or decide to go to a club instead of the theatre.
