METHODIST DISTRICT SYNOD
' The May Synod of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, Wellington district, was hold on Tuesday and Wednesday. Besides the ministers of the city and suburbs, there were present .those from Levin, Otaki, Paraparaumu, Porirua, Mastertou, Carterton, Greytowiiy. and Eketahmia. The chairman of the district, the Rev. E. D. Patchett, presided, and extended a welcome to the Revs. A. H. Sharp, M. A. M'Dowcll, 11. H. Jeffreys, H. A. Ashworth, and.Messi-s. Kirkman and Thomas, as new members'.. '." ' .-.. .. . <
The afternoon session, discussed "Religious Education ' and Youth Work,"- introduced* by the Rev. E. O, Blamires, and "Spiritual Advance," outlined by the.Rev. H. Aslnvorth. .
The sessions concluded on Wednesday morning, when the Rev. R. P. Keall gave a brief review of the book, "The Christ, of Every Road," by Dr. Stanley Jones. An interesting discussion followed. . . The '.Synod ■ social. on : Tuesday evening was-largely attended. ' The Rev. J. H; Bailey, of' Eketahuna, spoke : on-behalf ■of the brethren'from ;the country, and the Rev.. H. A. Sharp,' of Lower Hutt, represented the city'brethren. Mr. J. Newsham (representative layman, Local Preachers' Association, England)', brought greetings from that association. Musical and elocutionary items were given by Miss .'Walker,. Mr. R. Dellow, Mr.' and Mrs. H. Knight, Mrs; Davies, Mesdames Coventry, mid O. Chapman;: ■-. Mr. . Froggart " was the pianist/.
