MIDLAND HOTEL, MASTERTON
At a special meeting of shareholders of the Hotel Midland Company, held yesterday, the resolution passed at the recent annual meeting and providing that the company should go into voluntary liquidation was confirmed. The opinion has been expressed very generally that a serious loss to the town would be entailed if the establishment controlled by the company were closed, and it now seems likely that the necessity of closing down may be averted. There is stated to be every possibility of a small company being formed to take over the hotel as a going concern and carry it on. It is being carried on in the meantime, and the new company is expected to take it over almost at once.
