ORLEBAR'S RECORD
WILL IT BE ECLIPSED?
LONDON, 11th May
A private owner, who is an expert in supercharging petrol engines, has purchased one of the Gloster Napier seaplanes, built by the Air Ministry, for the Schneider Cup race, and ho intends attacking Squadron-Leader Orlebar's speed record of 377.7 miles per hour.
He hopes, by supercharging the Napier engine, to obtained a spec,; approaching 400 miles per hour. If successful, he will enter the next Schneider Cup race. Tho machine at present is being overhauled at Croydon, ill preparation for an attempt on the record.
