THE PRICE OF EGGS
(To tho Editor.)
Suy^-Re the egg famine and the recent trial importation of Canadian eggs to Auckland, may I point out that the Government "Abstract of Statistics" 'for April contains the following:— At 31st \March, 1930, there were >in cold storage in the Dominion 90,077 dozen eggs in shell, ,599,452 Ib, egg pulp, and 13071b frozen whites. The figures for April will be available in a few days;. These -figures should set shopkeepers and housewives thinking. Surely this should be a matter for the Board of Trade and the Minister of Trade to take up. Meantime, eggs are at almost a prohibitive price.—l am, etc.,
