PUSHING AUSTRALIAN WHISKY.
The moist serious dispute that has occurred in fthe Melbourne retail liquor trade since theJ Federal body of the United Licensed "Victuallers' Association came into existence^nine years ago has arisen from tjie police adopted by the Federal organisation to bind, so far as it was possible, all licensed i-victuallers to push their sales of certain spirits distilled in "Victoria at the experise,cf imported lines, especially largely demandied brands of Scotch whisky. It has.been held that in Queensland, New South iWalcs, and other States this policy was iiojfc meeting with the success expected, and cdrtain licencees declared that they would /cease to observe it. Considerable ill-feeling resulted between the Victorian branch and other branches. Meetings were held in Melbourne in April,, •when the matter was dismissed by the delegates from each State.
