OKARITO BEACH DREDGING.
Directors,, of the Okarito Five Mile Beach Gold Dredging Company report that progress, though much retarded by the weather conditions prevailing until the end of January, has been substantial. The pipe line has now been laid over the most difficult section of the country which it traverses, and the work of laying the remainder of the pipes will be comparatively easy. Transport difficulties have been successfully overcome, and plant, with exception of a few heavy parts of dredge machinery, bas been lauded at destination. It is anticipated that laying main pipe line will be completed by cud of March, after which' sluicing operations nt the claim will be commenced with the hydraulic-elevating plant and continued ,u«til the dredge is ready to operate.
