IN FINE WEATHER

SHOOTING AT TRENTHAM

IMPERIAL AGGREGATE

WON BY NELSON TYRO

(By Our Special Reporter.) . TRENTHAM, Last Night. • The last match of the series prior to the ■ Belt matches was shot off early this afterBoon, and though the weather was glori-. oiisly. fine, marksmen at times found conditions very ; trying. There was' very little wind,-but what there-was of it was very troublesome. It seemed to come from all directions, arid occasionally had the competitors guessing. It was not to be wbndered at that the scoring was erratic. Some, however, were favoured with luck when the breeze steadied late in the afternoon, and several good scores were registered. • ' . The Creswell Match, ten shots at 600 yards, was won by P. Berry, of Tararua, with a score of 48, P. Palmer, of Patea, being second with 47, and J. H. l'razer, of Kaitangata, third, with 4tV With the completion of the Creswell Match; the results of the Imperial Aggregate were available. This was won by 11. V. Searle, the Nelson shot, with a score of 201. '■ Searle's scores were as. follow: 300 yds and 500 yds, 65; 600 yds, 42;,800. yds, 47; 900 yds, 47. Although Searle is attending, this meeting as a tyro, he is no inexperienced shot. He has wins in the Tarauaki and -. Nelson Service championships to his credit, and, in addition to having won the Nelson open championship, he tied in the Canterbury championThe second man, G. P. Harrison, of Kaponga, who finished second with 201, scored as follows: 300 yds and 500 yds, 64; 600 yds, 44; 800 yds, 46; 900 yds', 46. , Conditions, for the first of the Belt matches were better thaii they were earlier in the day, and two 49V were registeredone by G. A. Eyles, of Napier, who won the match, arid the other -by IP. Berry, tlie Tararua shot. .Eyles' found the bull with his first sighter, but as his second was a 4 he discarded it, and so had to discard his bull also. He went on shooting very) steadily, but his fifth shot was a 4, arid then he finished with four bulls, which enabled him to beat the other 49. The present Belt holder, Captain W. N. Maseneld, .finished in a handy • position >vith 46. .: " Detailed results are as follow: CRESWELL MATCH. '•-': ■.. Ten Shots at 600 yds. :. .. A Grade. £5—P. Berry (Tararua), 4S. £4 each—P.
