DEVONIAN SOCIETY

A large gathering of Devonians met on Wednesday evening in connection with the Devonian Society formed a fortnight previously. Mr. R. IS. Manley, who presided, presented a set o£ rules, framed by a committee set up for that purpose; after due consideration they were passed. -The election o£ officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. K. B. Manley; vice-presidents, Messrs. Brinsden and Urokenshire;- treas; urer, Mr. Jeli'ery; auditor, Mr.W.V; Jones: trustees, Messrs.- Pillar and -Alexander; committee, Mesdames E. Jones, Vernbn, Dotson, and Miss M. Cole, Messrs. F. J. VV. Fear, W. Jones, and R. C. Nott: The president asked for contributions of books, papers, and any matter relating to Devonian folklore, and some papers were received., It was decided to hold general meetings at least once a quarter. Refreshments ivere provided by the lady members. Musical and elocutionary items -•n*re given by Miss Betty Mariley and Messrs. Brokenshire, Daw, and Read. The accompanist was" Mr. E. B. Jones. The president thanked Mrs. Trigg, who had lent the room, the ladies who had provided the catering, and those who rendered musical and elocutionary items.
