TRIBUTE TO MR. BRUCE
STATESMAN OF IDEALS
RETURN TO PUBLIC LIFE
SYDNEY, 13 th November. Mr. Stanley Bruce, tho former Federal* Prime Minister, was entertained at lunch by representatives of the commercial, industrial, professional, and other sections of the community. Many speeches in his honour were made, and splendid tributes were paid to him as a statesman of broad national ideals. The hope was freely expressed that ho would return to public life after ho. had enjoyed a rest.
Mr. Bruce, replying, said that he would bo glad to return to politics if the people desired he should do so. He added that, if his successors succeeded in restoring prosperity to Australia, then tho loss of a political party would •not much matter.
