MONTHLY REPORT The monthly meeting of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health o£ Women and Children was held last week. Koss and Glentunning tor various gifts. * K Tlle report of the matron of the Truby iung Iviintane Hospital showed: Admissions for the mouth, 9 mothers and 15 babies. Length of stay in hospital of discharged cases: 2 mothers and 2 babies for one day, 2 mothers and 1 baby for two days, 1 mother and 1 baby for three days, 1 mother and 1 baby for nine days, 2 mothers and 3 babies for two weeks, 2 mothers and 2 babies for 2'/q weeks, 1 mother for three weeks and a half, 1 baby, tor four weeks and a half, 3 babies for seven weeks, 1 baby for ten weeks and a half, 1 mother aud 1 baby for nine weeks, 1 baby for twelve days, and 1 baby for five months. There were 551 visitors to the hospital during the month. Practical demonstrations, with short leeturettes on bathing, feeding, and dressing, were given'to 315 girls. The matron thanks the following for gifts:—Mesdames JUoorey, Harris, Higgins, Buchanan, Sutherland, the Misses Bennett, Cowan, Vikerman, and Cooper for flowers; Miss J^night for cakes; Sir Truby King for books and magazines; also Mrs. Moorey, who kindly gave four days' sewing during the month.

The Central Committee reports that the dance held on 4th October in St. Francis's Hall showed a profit of £65 lls lid. The committee express their gratitude to Mrs. Macarthy-Reid, who generously gave the band and also the soft drinks. Also to the following for donations:—Mr. H. Hall £5, Lady Chapman 10s, Mrs. J. B. Coates 10s, Mrs. J. Johnston £1; to Miss Phyllis Bates for advertising and giving an exhibition dance; Mr. O'Neill for the loan of china and glass; Curtis and Company for advertising; the Bristol for selling tickets and advertising; L. T. Watkins, Ltd., for printing tickets; Hanna and King, for posters; Mr. Lan Duncan and Mr. A. Young, for cases of claret, and the many friends who helped with the supper.

The Central Committee also reports that the net returns o£ the shop held on 31st October at present totals £167 9s Id. There are still some attractive Christmas gifts for sale, which can bo obtained at.the Plunket Rooms, and. some small amounts o£ money outstanding. Gratitude is recorded to Messrs. L. Dwan and Son for the loan of their shop in Willis street, the Orphans' Club, and the Red Cross for tables, the ladies who\ gave cakes and flowers to the produce stall, and also the New Zealand Trawling Company, A. E. Preston and Co., Messrs. Moore, Wilson, and Co., Gamble and Creed, Cadbury's, Ltd., J. B. MacEwan Co., Ltd., Swiss Milk Co., A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., the Market Gardeners, the Te Aro Seed Co., J. Newton and Son, Ltd., Wah Kee, Kwok, and Joe Lee, all of whom gave gifts to the produce stall.
