"Wliita gold, at present in the fashion, passes the same assay office tests for its gold content as ordinary gold; that is to say, it contains the same,amount of pure-gold as articles made of the more familiar yellow-coloured metal— 9 carat, 18 carat, as tho case may be. The trend of modern fashion has led the metallurgist to produce not only white gold, but gold of many different shades—green, blue, or reddish. A single article of jewellery may be of gold woven in all possible shades.
