OBSERVATION
TREES, BIRDS, AXD INSECTS
Last year an essay competition was held amongst the children of the primary schools of the*-Dominion on trees and birds under the auspices of the Education Department, and will be again held this year. Teachers are requested to announce to the pupils of their school that children of the primary schools throughout the Wellington Education District are invited during the Christmas holidays to write an essay of not more than 500 words on "What do you know about any bird . tree, or insect?" Personal observation will count more than style or boot knowledge. The essays are to be lianded to . the head master at the beginning of the term commencing 1930. The best essay selected by the head master or school committee should be forwarded to the provincial judge, Mr.-W. ; K. B.
