TOO OLD TO DRIVE

TROTTING BOARD'S DECISION

• CHEISTCHTJBCH, This Day. "The new forms for licences ask for the applicant's ages and that is how we are getting them. It is most unwise to grant a driver's licence to a man in his 70th year," stated Mr. W. Hayward at a meeting of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association. Mr. Hayward was referring to an application from James M'Ewan, a blacksmith, of Gore, for licences to train and drive. It was stated that the applicant was in his 70th year. . One member stated that M'Ewan. had bred Cathedral Chimes.

The secretary, in reply to a question, stated that the applicant was granted a. driver's licence last year, and Mr. Hayward.added that it was only by the new application, forms that the' applicants' ages were being ascertained. A trainer's licence only was granted by the board.
