STATE WORKERS' DECISION

WESTPORT, 12th Nov. The State miners, while voting 147 to 110 in favour of working an.d striking a levy to support the Blackball men, decided subsequently to fall into line with the other unions.

The Reefton coalminers are outside the Miners' Council, and their attitude is not' yet known. There are eighteen co-operative mining parties in this district, soin of whom will join the union miners. The Briaridale ' Colliery men are unionists, and will stop. The National Council of Mine Workers will meet at Wellington at the week-end in the event of no settlement in the meantime, and if there is still no sign of a settlement- the proposal for a national coal strike.is certain to be put before the council.
