LONDON, sth November. : Despite the fact that Davis had refluecrl M'Conaehy's lead-to 289 !it the start of the afternoon session, M'Conaehy. made a.remarkable- recovery and out-pointed his opponent, finishing with a lead of 997. M'Conaehy gave a brilliant exhibition in the course of a break of 644, which ended when he missed'a cushion cannon. In the evening he. continued to dominate play, carrying an -unfinished break of 16 to 578, when he broke down over a red winner. *
Against W. Lindrum at Newcastle, Smith, in the best break for the first eleven hands in the evening, compiled ;413 confidently and just failed at a •cushion cannon. In tho meanwhile 'Lindrum ran up 285, in which he fluked 'a cannon in the seventies and 267, all "obtained at the top of the table. He '.' played only twice from baulk. Ho failed at the third losing hazard tried. After a good deal of safety play Smith got going at 245, and narrowly missed "'"n follow-through cannon. Ho averaged 54 for 920; and Lindrum 45 for 765.
