OPERATION OF BANKS
INQUIRY IN BRITAIN
LONDON, 4th November.
In tlie House of Commons, Mr. Snowden announced the appointment of a committee to inquire into banking and finance and credit, having regard to the internal and international factors governing their operation, the committee to make recommendations -calculated to make these, agents promote the development of trade and commerce.
Tho comnutteo will consist of Mr. H. P. MacMillan, K.C., former Lord Advocate of Scotland, chairman; Sir Thomas Allen (director, Co-operative Wholesale Society), Mr. Ernest Bcvin (trade union official), Lord Bradbury (cluumian of-Food Council in 1925), Mr. ft. 11. Brand (director of Lloyds's .bank), Professor Gregory (Sir' E. Cassel Professor of Banking in the University of London), Mr. J. M. Keynes (editor of "Economic Journal"); Mr. Cecil Lubboek (director of the Bank of England), Mr. Reginald M'Kenna (former Financial Secretary 'of the Treasury), Mr. Lennox B. Lee, Mr. J. T. Newbold (former Communist, now -Labour researcher), Sir Walter Eaine (managing director of J. Eaine and oon, coal exporters), Mr. J. F Tavlor, Mr. A. A. G. Tulloek. *
