DIRT TRACK OPENING.
The experience of the first season of dirt track motor-cycle racing in Wellington is expected to lead to even better achievements in the second season, which is to bc_ officially opened next Saturday night. Elaborate arrangements have been made for this season's sport, improvements having been effected at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway and various overseas riders having been engaged to compete at the meetings, a feature of most of which will be the international contests. The !New Zealand riders have become even more proficient, and the indications are that the best of them trill fully extend the visitors. Several Australian riders have inspected the track during the. past few days, and they regard it as of the right order for the sport at its best. Two of the Australians, Billy Stipcwich, and Jimmy Datson, are to compete on Saturday night, and the performances of these experienced riders should provide plenty of thrills, as will those of the leading NewZealand riders in the big m\tch races with' the visitors. The Big Sine Scratch, one of the features of last season's events, will be one of the stirring events on Saturday night. B and C grades: T. Wilkinson, V. Rinaldi, T. J. Firth, H. Anderson, L. Rinaldi, A. Phillips, J. H. Watt, T. W. Kerr, A. Blair, H. Luchesi. P. Phillips, C. Tonks, J. W. Richards, R. Stratton, and W. G. Glover. Riders unable to compete must give notification without delay.
