' The people of Nova Scotia in a plediscite on Thursday voted against ttte Temperance Act at present in force an1! i in favour of Government control of. 28 fill * a majOrity of more thau Thus Nova Scotia has joined the majority of the other Provinces in Canada by deciding at a referendum to iuwigurate the system of selling -liquor in Government stores. Hitherto th>-s maritime province had localised Prohibition, and tried a variety of schemes which proved unsatisfactory. More than nine-tenths of Canada is now served under Government control the Province of Quebec going farthest by alloiving beer and wine to be served in licensed restaurants. . British Columbia has Government-beer parlours, and all Canada is leaping tremendous' profits from the liquor sales, .especially to American tourists, millions of whom flock bvor the border. To-day's referendum and yesterday's provincial election in Ontario indicate the popularity of this system. ;
