LESS COSTLY'SYSTEM WANTED
CANBERRA, Ist November. Tho Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, commenting on the decision to suspend compulsory military training among the youth of Australia, said that the Government had no intention of interfering with tho defence of the Commonwealth. There would be a general review of military policy, with the idea of discovering a more efficient and less costly system. Other members of the Cabinet hinted that the former volunteer system would be reintrodueed. . Sir George Pearee, Minister of Defence in the Bruce- Government, declared that tho Labour Government had no authority to suspend compulsory training and military camps. Another former Minister, described it is an outrage on a most sacred trust.
