The seeue at Throgmorton Street during a downpour of rain after the closing of the Stock Exchange was the most exciting since before the war. Heavy selling orders came from the other side-, and all the leading specialties broke before the wave of liquidation at big figures and changed every few seconds as dealers offered stock. Prices rallied later, albeit showing substantial falls on the day^
