MAJESTIC- THEATRE.

Id "Masquerade," the new talking feature at the Majestic Theatre, Mr. Alan Eermlngham plays a dual part. The story is that Maitland, a wealthy American, discovers that he is the double of Aniseed, a burglar. Maitland ilnds a girl, for whom he had begun to feel affection, burgling in his house. He surprises her, and pretends to be Aniseed. ' The real Aniseed surprises both of them, and a fight in the dark proceeds between Aniseed and his double, Maitland. Maitland overpowers Aniseed, and goes away with the girl, leaving Aniseed bound In Maitland's house. Aniseed frees himself from his bonds, and Impersonates Maitland, deceiving tho latter's servants. From then on this reciprocal Impersonation—Aniseed as Maitland and Maitland as Aniseed—proceeds merrily, and they chase each other over roofs, but all the time the actor (Bermingham) is chasing Himself, for, except during the short periods when they are on the screen together for a fight, Maitland and Aniseed are shot by the camera separately.' The whole business is rather neatly arranged, and Bermingham is claimed to be a pioneer of the dual part In talkies. Leila Hyaras is the seductive lady burglar, who burgled not for lucre but in order to recover evidence incriminating her father—a performance so meritorious that Maitland marries her after he has outed his other self. Miss Hyams looks very sweet, but her vocal effort Is not equally pleasing. The picture does not stand on a high plane of vocal reproduction, but has plenty of action and snap. Tho Fox Movietone News showed a_ refuelling of aeroplane by aeroplane in the air, and also screened a dialogue between the Right Hon. D. Lloyd' George British Liberal Leader, and his daughter, Megan, who is also in the House of Commons as the Liberal representative of a rural constituency. As on the last occasion, when he appeared on the screen at the Majestic, Mr. Lloyd George's voice registered excellently, his daughter's htirdlv less so. Other Fox pictures Included American harvesting scenes, and acrobacy. dancing, etc., by tho Anatole Frledland revue. A musical farce-com-edy was rather wild In its humour. Scieening is thrice daily.
