AUCKLAND PROSPECTS

SfITCHELSON CUP DAY

the Auckland Racing Club hag a fine card to present to its patrons to-morrow, and given fine wfather and decent track condiaona there should be some excellent racing, The types of races are well diverified, and the card caters for all classes. Racing will commence at noon with the TRIAL HUBDLE BACE, of 400 soys; ono mUa «nd three-quarters. Trwhwn ..10 7 Harbour View. ?'o Bolden Wedding 10 6 Master Doon .90 ■lady Spalpeen 9,13 Adjuster .... 9 n Star of.the Sleepy Sol .. 9 0 ... Sir Archie ran a decent race at Avondale for his first over the battens, but on form Ah Wera and Lady Spalpeen have to be selected. GREAT NORTHERN GUINEAS, of 1500 sots; one mile. st lb st lb Air Laddie -.. 8 10 Imperial- Prince B>io Carl Idem ... 8 10 Leader .... s 10 Catoma 8 10 Motero 8 10 Crimestor .. slO Pink Coat .... 810 Xx Dono .... SlO Refresher ... SlO False Scent .. 810 Supremacy .. 810 Flying Prince 810 Eaglet s 5 Hunting Cry .. SlO Betting should be brisk on this event, with solid support for Eaglet, Pink Coat, and Hunting Cry, and in a lesser degree for Leader, Supremacy, and False Scent. Eaglet has done particularly well, but she may now meet her match in the two sons of Hunting Song, Pink Coat and Hunting Cry. Supremacy will be making his first appearance as a three-year-old, and of course, if he reproduced his two-year-old form of last spring, he would be very hard to beat. His record last year Was first S jj A. m^ Coat a PPears to be able to nandie the reverse way of galloping, and he w selected to beat Eaglet and Hunting Ory, with Supremacy his most dangerous opponent.' • SHORTS HANDICAP, of 500 sots; six furlongs. _ st lb s t it, Benzora .... 9 0 Value 7 3 Gold Money . 8 6 Oration ... 71 Valla* 8 6 Blllikins .... 7 0 Lady Quex .. 8 5 Mon Star .. There is an- indication that Benzora is expected to show his best form, and he should account for Gold Money and Vallar. Lady Quex looks like starting favourite, and decently ridden she should win. High Finance and . Havering are nicely placed, and High Finance should be a much better mare for her race at Avonoaie. Awarere and Lady's Boy havo to be considered on their Avondale efforts, but they do not appeal so much as Value, who is very well treated at 7.3, especially v any rain should fall. Polyxena was a wnart two-yoar-old, and is particularly wdl treated at 7 Eton*. She hails from

the same stable as High Finance. Lady Quex,' Value, and Beiizora may not disgrace themsedves. . MITCHELSON CUP, of 1250 soys* one mile and a half. „ _ st H> st 1b Star Stranger 911 Transformer 711 Historic .... 9 7 High Pitch .. 710 Prince Desert Glow . 7 10 .. .Humphrey S 12 Singleton ..7 8 Prodice .... s 9; Talisker ... .7 i Barometer ... 713 Amor . . 7 n Pluthair .... 713 ■ The debate appears to be centred round Star Stranger, Historic, Prince Humphrey, and Piuthair, providing the track is firm. If rain should fall all calculations will go by the board, and a turn-up is probable. On track form Historic looks like beating Star Stranger, but Prince Humphrey may be -very troublesome to the better of them. Piuthair is proved over the distance, and she appears to be coming back to;her best, which is undoubtedly good. Presuming that the weather is good to-morrow and the track dry, Historic and Prince Humphrey may dispute the issue in a moderately run race. With a fast pace set by a light-weight like Talisker, Star Stranger may come into the picture .more strongly, but the preference remains for Historic aild Prince Humphrey. Transformer and.High Pitch are likely ones on a wet track.

HUNTERS' STEEPLECHASE, of 400' soys about two miles and a half.

■ . st lb" st 1b Odm 11 2 Soami 9 2 Pompeius ... 10 7 Marita !) 1 Mashoor .... 011 King Panic ..9 0 Sea Comet .. 910 Foxhound ..0 0 Calitho 9 10 Tin Whistle ..9 0 Rayonnant ..9 5 Lucess ...... 9 o Town Rambler 9. 3 Stonewall ... 9 o

Odin appears to have sufficient weight, and Pompeius may beat him at a difference of 91b. Calithe is in good fettle and has plenty, of pace if he can negotiate the country. Rayonnant has been working well. As King Fame was equal to finishing fourth in the Great Northern Steeplechase he is entitled to a share of-the support. Pompeius, Calithe, and King Fame may go well. VfELCOME STAKES, of 1000 sots; live furlongs. ' '..',. st lb st lb Appeal .... S 5 Killing King .. S 5 Bella of Running Over S 5 Shandon S 5 Tarcha s 5 Biddy's Boy .. S 0 Open Cheque 8 5 Lineage ..... 8 0 Protomint ... 8 5 Yalmarle .... 8 0 Eoyal Ruler . S 5

This will be by no means the most uninteresting event of the day. Royal Ruler and Lineage, as Avchdale winners, are sure,to be in the market, but on Avondale Stakes form Imamint, who finished second to Lineage, should beat the Trentham filly. However, these are passed by in favour of Chrysology, Chief Link, and Cylinder. Chief Link has yet to race, but he_ looks a good galloper and has been going like one. Chrysology and Cylinder should improve on' their recent efforts. The luck of the draw will be of some importance, but the last-named trio, Cylinder, Chrysology, and Chief Link, are expected to go well. ■

Arikitoa, Sea Cob, and Prince Val, on accouut of their form at Avondale, will be in demand, but they have strong opponents in the three lightweights, Brampton, Alloy, and Currajong. Brampton is a decided improver. '

In the Shade, Otairi Mervette, and Standfast are all nicely maeed, and Merry Mint, if he struck his form, would, make an exhibition o£ this field, Eeremoana and all. There is the doubt about his condition at the present and backers may await a lead Reremoana, In the, Shade, and MerveUe may show up well.
