FOOTBALLERS' COMPETITION
An interesting event is being revived by the Wellington Football Club to-mor-row, in the shape of the competition for the Levin Shield. This trophy was presented 36 years ago by the late Mr. William Hort Levin, a former president of the club, whose record as one of the pioneers of Wellington has been referred to in "The Post." \
The competition consists of events in running, line-kicking, punting, place-kick-ing, drop-kicking, dribbling, passing, and relay running. ■ ■ ■
Among the former winners of the shield are: F. W. G. Strange (1894); H. H. Dpere (1595); J. E. Rop (1896); F. M. B. Fusher (1897); Lance Bridge (1909); Roy Lambert (1011); E. Cunliffe (1919); L. C. Scott (1920). Since 1921 the competition h:is been allowed to lapse on account o£ the difficulty of finding a suitable date during the football season, but it is now hoped to continue it annually.
